HEALTH & SAFETY

Our commitment to Health & Safety is paramount throughout every level of our organisation.  We are always looking for ways to improve safety measures and make our sites a safe place to work.  Please view our HEALTH & SAFETY VISION STATEMENT.

CONSTRUCTION DESIGN & MANAGEMENT REGULATIONS

We are fully compliant with Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM). Acting as Principal Contractor we ensure CDM compliance of not only ourselves, but those who are also under our control.

All relevant investigation and documentation is completed prior to the construction phase. This includes but is not limited to the Construction Phase Plans (CPP), Method Statements & Risk Assessments (RAMS), drawing packages, service locations, traffic management plans etc.

SAFETY ACCREDITATIONS

We are accredited with The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) as a Principal Contractor, and also Safe Contractor Approved.  We are continuously looking at adding to our accreditations, and are committed to maintaining these accreditations.

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

It is our policy to provide on-going training and development for our staff to improve skill levels and qualifications, as well as creating opportunities for career progression within the company. As such we have a highly multi-skilled workforce. We comply with the criteria our training partner Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), and Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS). We are members of the Shropshire Construction Training Group SCTG), which is linked with the CITB.

Our site managers are qualified in the CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS), and our site supervisors are qualified in the CITB Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS). Staff hold CPCS/ National Plant Operators Registration Scheme (NPORS) supervisors and operators qualifications in excavators, dumper trucks, telescopic handler, ride on roller, New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA); and other qualifications in abrasive wheels, International Powered Access Federation (IPAF), Prefabricated Access Suppliers’ & Manufacturers’ Association (PASMA).

GPC74 management are committed to have responsibility for the human rights, ethical trade and corporate social responsibilities of the business.  This ethos is established within the company from the top down.  We review our policies with the aim to adapt and improve our governance and to ensure that are continually meeting our client’s expectations.

 

As a caring employer, we strongly believe we have a responsibility for promoting lawful and ethical employment practices.  We have a zero-tolerance policy to modern slavery and are fully committed to ensuring such practices are not part of our business. GPC74 are registered with the “Stronger Together” initiative which provides guidance, training, resources and a network for employers, labour providers, workers and their representatives to work together to reduce modern slavery.

To re-enforce that as an organisation we take the identifying and remedying of wrongdoing seriously we have a WHISTLE BLOWING policy in place.  By having clear procedures to follow in advance of any issues we aim to provide a supportive environment for employees to promptly and confidentially report any concerns.

At GPC74 we execute regular internal reviews and audits to ensure that we are surpassing our responsibilities and duties as a contractor and employer, we are also accredited externally by the following assessors:-

• Safe Contractor

ENVIRONMENT

GPC74 has long been committed to minimising the environmental impact of our activities. This has evolved into an important feature of company policy, deriving both from our ethical values – a genuine belief that companies have a duty to be socially responsible in their operations – but also from a recognition that poor waste management and unnecessary consumption affects our operational efficiency and profitability as a business. We continually seek to reduce waste in all areas of our business operations carrying out waste management plans for all sites large and small.
